Welcome to the parishes of East Hendred, West Hendred, Ardington and Lockinge

From the Rector to all members of our communities

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The church has taken the painful decision to suspend public worship in an attempt to protect the lives of the more vulnerable and to delay the spread of Coronavirus, which is expected to increase in the next few weeks.

As the shepherd of this community, it breaks my heart to think that we won't be able to share in worship for the next weeks or months, but, please, rest assured that while you are always in my daily prayers, you will be even more so at this difficult time.

I may be asked to refrain from celebrating the Eucharist with you, but nothing stops me from celebrating it for you, surrounded by the thousands of Angels which worship the Lamb that was slain and yet lives.

The normal pattern of services will carry on, and I will be saying Matins and Evensong every day, and celebrating Holy Communion on Wednesdays Fridays and Sundays at 10am.

Whenever you hear the church bell ringing, join me with heart and mind in the Lord's prayer, asking God to be with us at this time of trial.

Please look after yourselves and your beloved ones, and, most of all, do not let fear overcome you. Remember, our life is hidden with Christ in God (Col 3:3).

God bless you all!

We welcome you to the Christian community here in East and West Hendred, Ardington and Lockinge! We believe that the Gospel is for everyone and we look forward to welcoming you in person in our ancient, peaceful and beautiful churches, all of which have stood witnessing to the Christian faith here, at the foot of the Berkshire Downs, for over seven hundred years.

Come and join us! We'd love to see you and hope that these pages may be helpful to you and give you a taste of what the Christian community here is about.

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have advised to suspend all public worship.

Our Rector, The Revd Dr Orazio Camaioni, will continue to celebrate the office, weekly eucharists and a Sunday Eucharist in one of the churches in turn in the Benefice, after having rung the bell. Further information will be notified as it becomes available.

Let us pray for our Government and nation, for each other, and especially for those who work in our health and emergency service. God Bless
